Everyday K Giving
Do you have a desire to make a positive difference in the world but don't feel you can because you aren't currently rich or famous?
Are you so overwhelmed by all you have to do, that supporting a friend or cause you feel strongly about, seems impossible to fit into your schedule?
You don't have to be rich, famous or retired to make a difference in the world everyday!
What thoughts come to mind when you think of a philanthropist?
You are probably thinking of a very rich person that gives millions of dollars to charitable causes. This person might even have a staff of employees that investigates and recommends the specific causes to donate money to. Although the individual you have in mind is a philanthropist, you don't have to be rich to be one yourself. Take a look at the following definition:
Philanthropy
(n.) Love to mankind; benevolence toward the whole human family; universal good will; desire and readiness to do good to all men.
Become a K Philanthropist now!
A K Philanthropist is someone who gives unselfishly everyday toward the good of their fellow black man (and woman). Giving money is not the only way to show love, benevolence and good will. There are many other ways for you to do this that requires little or no money. So don't let your lack of being a multi-millionaire keep you from improving the world we live in.
Steps You Can Take to Get Started
10-10-50 Program
10 /: Each person of African descent who would consider himself
or herself seriously concerned about the plight of African (Black)
people must commit a minimum of ten (10) hours each month to a
community based organization or institution concerned with the
uplift and improvement of our people. This means dedicating
yourself to the excellent performance of your chosen organization
or institution and helping to make your chosen organization or
institution the very best that it can be. – We must build strong
organizations and institutions
--- none of us are justified sitting on the sideline complaining
about what others are not doing.
10 /: Commit a minimum of $10 every month to help fund your
chosen organization or institution. Make a conscious effort to
choose an organization or institution that needs your help.
50 /: Transfer or redirect, at a minimum, an additional $50 from
your monthly budget to support African (Black) owned and operated
businesses. $50 a month should not be the total you spend, but
use your creativity to find ways to spend an additional $50 each
month. – Make it known to these businesses that you support 10-
10-50. Demand that they give good service and that they reinvest
in our community.
+ IMANI (Faith): Have faith that proper leadership and
systems are being developed to facilitate the necessary
cooperation between our organizations and institutions. – A truly
dynamic and functional unity is required among our people, and that
is what we are building.
Commit yourself to this basic plan and
encourage others to do the same.
The 10-10-50 program was initially developed by African Community Centers for Unity and Self Determination, Inc.
